Clairvaux Abbey Grounds

This site was home to the famous Cistercian abbey founded by Saint Bernard in 1115, which became a major spiritual center of medieval Europe. Although later converted into a high-security prison, the historic buildings and grounds remain a site of great architectural and religious significance. It offers pilgrims a place to reflect on the monastic traditions that shaped the Via Francigena.
