Amphitheatre of Sutri

The Amphitheatre of Sutri is a Roman-era arena carved directly into the tuff rock and dates to the 1st century BC; it is one of the most striking examples of rock-cut Roman entertainment architecture. Over the centuries the amphitheatre has been reused for a variety of purposes and today is an evocative archaeological site adjacent to the town's historic center.
