This stage leads pilgrims from the Lunigiana town of Aulla downstream along the Magra valley into Sarzana, moving from a riverine plain toward a fortified medieval town. The route mixes short country tracks and paved sections and brings you into the heart of Sarzana's historic centre.

Open river plain, orchards and agricultural land framed by the low hills of the Apennine foothills; the approach to Sarzana provides views of its medieval walls and fortress.
