Fortezza Firmafede

Fortezza Firmafede is Sarzana’s dominant defensive structure, a large late-medieval fortress that controls the approach to the historic centre. With massive stone walls, bastions and a central keep, the fortress has been restored and is used for cultural events and panoramic views over the town and surrounding valley. It symbolizes Sarzana’s strategic role between the Lunigiana interior and the Ligurian coast.
